In an unprecedentedly stringent censure of a governor, the Supreme Court on Thursday said Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi is defying SC by refusing to swear in K Ponmudy as minister despite CM M K Stalin’s advice and gave Ravi 24 hours to administer oath to DMK leader to set right a wrong constitutional situation created by him. The governor in his March 17 letter cited his own interpretation of the SC order and said that conviction has only been “suspended and not set aside” and hence, Ponmudy cannot be appointed as a minister.
