Sunil Gavaskar first Indian sportsperson to secure personality rights protection

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora also restrained several defendants from using Gavaskar's personality traits through artificial intelligence and deepfake technology, and ordered the takedown of certain obscene content uploaded on the Internet.

The high court said the URLs of the offensive material should be taken down by the websites within 72 hours and in case of failure, the social media intermediaries concerned should remove the content.

The court listed the matter for further hearing on May 22.

On December 12, the high court had directed social media intermediaries to act within seven days on Gavaskar's plea seeking protection of his personality rights.
