Chief Minister MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday formed a high-level committee chaired by former Supreme Court judge Kurian Joseph to recommend measures for the state's autonomy amid its ongoing clash with the Centre.
"To protect the rights of the state and to enhance the relationship between the Union and state governments, a high-level committee has been formed," Stalin said in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
The committee, which will also include former bureaucrats Ashok Shetty and Mu Nagarajan, will submit its interim report by January 2026 and the final report, containing detailed recommendations, is expected to be submitted within two years.
