PV Sindhu will look to end her title drought when she takes on Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the women's singles final of the Japan Open on Sunday, July 19. The summit clash marks Sindhu's first BWF World Tour final in two years and her maiden appearance in the Japan Open final.
Sindhu booked her place in the title clash after defeating China's Chen Yufei in the semi-final on Saturday. The Indian shuttler won the opening game 21-19 before leading 15-10 in the second when Yufei was forced to retire with a hamstring injury.
The two-time Olympic medallist produced one of her best performances in recent times, ending a five-match losing streak against Yufei. Earlier in the tournament, Sindhu had also stunned World No. 5 Han Yue to continue her impressive run.
