‘She Was An Evil Woman And Liability To The Country’: Trump On Nancy Pelosi’s Retirement

In a video posted on X , former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s retirement announcement triggered a sharp reaction from Trump. He called Pelosi “an evil woman," and said,“I think she was an evil woman who did a poor job, who cost the country a lot in damages and in reputation. I thought she was terrible … I think she did the country a great service by retiring. I think she was a tremendous liability for the country."

Pelosi, 85, who represents California’s 11th Congressional District covering most of San Francisco, was first elected to Congress in 1987 through a special election following the death of Representative Sala Burton.

The Congresswoman made history in 2007 when she became the first woman ever elected Speaker of the House, serving until 2011. She later reclaimed the position in 2019, leading the House through a turbulent period marked by partisan division, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol attack in which presided over two impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump.
