Roberto Carlos undergoes immediate surgery after heart problem detected

Former Brazil and Real Madrid football legend Roberto Carlos shared a photo of himself smiling in a hospital bed, announcing that he is “recovering well" after undergoing a heart procedure.

On Instagram, Carlos clarified circulating reports, stating, “I did not suffer a heart attack. I am recovering well and looking forward to returning to full fitness and resuming my professional and personal commitments soon," the 52-year-old former defender elaborated.

Earlier on Wednesday, Spanish media reported that Carlos had undergone surgery in Brazil. Hospital Vila Nova Star in Sao Paulo issued a separate statement confirming that Roberto Carlos, now a Real Madrid ambassador, was diagnosed with a heart obstruction on Monday and advised to undergo a coronary angioplasty the same day. The minimally invasive procedure is designed to widen blocked or narrowed heart arteries.
