Rajasthan MLA Takes Rs 20 Lakh Bribe To Drop Questions In Assembly, Arrested
Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MLA Jaikrishn Patel was arrested by Rajasthan’s Anti-Corruption Bureau while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. He was held from his official residence in Jaipur after ACP laid a trap following a complaint by a mine owner from Todabhim block in Karauli district.
It is alleged that Patel demanded 2.5 crore from the mine owner to withdraw three questions related to mining leases in the Todabhim area. The three questions-two starred and one unstarred- were submitted during the previous session of the Rajasthan Assembly.
On April 4, the mine owner filed a complaint with the ACB about the same.
According to ACB Director-General Ravi Prakash Meharda, Patel initially demanded Rs 10 crore from the mine owner to drop the questions, but the deal was later finalised at Rs 2.5 crore. Of the total settlement amount, the complainant gave him Rs 1 lakh in Banswara at the time of verification.
