After days of sweltering heat, Bengaluru residents finally received a welcome break on Tuesday evening as dark clouds rolled in, followed by a dramatic spell of thunder, lightning, and moderate rainfall across the city. The sudden shift in weather surprised many, but brought relief from the scorching temperatures that had gripped the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that the city experienced thundershowers accompanied by strong gusty winds, with wind speeds touching 50–60 km/h in some areas. The rainfall brought temperatures down and briefly disrupted routine activities, including traffic, as waterlogged streets and low visibility slowed down commuters.

As in previous instances, Bengaluru’s sudden showers triggered traffic congestion in several parts of the city. Motorists reported delays due to water-logged streets and reduced visibility, common side effects of the city’s limited stormwater drainage system.
