R Ashwin reacts to stunning catch to dismiss Daryl Mitchell: Trusted my hands
R Ashwin commented on his stunning catch to dismiss Daryl Mitchell during Day 2 of the Mumbai Test and claimed that he trusted his hands to complete the effort. Ashwin's catch could well prove to be the turning point of the game as Mitchell looked to be set on the track and ready to give New Zealand a good lead.
The incident happened in the 28th over when Ravindra Jadeja was bowling and Mitchell went for a lofted shot. The New Zealand batter was unable to get the right connection with Ashwin circling around to take the catch. The spinner would then complete the effort in stunning fashion as the crowd inside the Wankhede started to chant "Ashwin, Ashwin!" Speaking to the broadcasters after the day's play, Ashwin said he was telling himself that the ball was going to leave him anyway but he wanted to get close to it as much as possible.
"I was just telling myself that it's going to anyway leave me, I wanted to get as close to the ball as possible and and I've got great hands, so I trusted my hands to go through with it," said Ashwin.
