In 2015, Kanan Gill made the joke in the presence of Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb. The actors were reportedly on Gill's show to promote their movie—Welcome to Karachi. In a clip that has now gone viral, Kanan asks, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to stop it?"
