Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday accused veteran politician Sharad Pawar of engaging in a politics of betrayal and treachery in Maharashtra since 1978. He stated that a trend was brought to an end by the BJP’s decisive victory in the 2024 assembly elections, ensuring a stable government in the state.

According to a report by the news agency PTI, while addressing a state BJP convention in Shirdi, Amit Shah asserted that the people of Maharashtra rejected the "politics of dynasty and betrayal" represented by Sharad Pawar, who leads the NCP (SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray.

The Mahayuti coalition, comprising the BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena, secured a landslide victory in the 2024 assembly elections, winning 230 of the 288 assembly seats. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition was reduced to 46 seats, with NCP (SP) and Sena (UBT) winning only 10 and 20 seats, respectively.
