A massive tragedy unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district after a section of an under-construction bridge collapsed during a severe storm, leaving at least six workers feared dead and several others trapped under heavy debris. The incident occurred late at night between 2:00 and 2:30 AM while construction work was underway on a bridge being built over the Betwa River.

According to officials, a bridge pillar reportedly gave way amid strong winds and heavy storm conditions, causing a large slab structure to crash down onto workers present at the site. Rescue teams, including SDRF personnel, police officials, and local administration, immediately launched a large-scale operation to clear the debris and search for survivors.

Cranes, JCB machines, ladders, and heavy equipment were deployed to remove massive concrete slabs, steel frames, and twisted iron structures scattered across the accident zone. Authorities stated that several laborers were trapped beneath the collapsed slab, while three workers stranded atop the damaged bridge structure were rescued safely with the help of SDRF teams.
