Paris Olympics 2024: PV Sindhu opens campaign with dominant win over Fathimath Abdul Razzaq
New Delhi: Two-time Olympic medallist shuttler PV Sindhu will start her Paris Olympics 2024 campaign against Maldives’ Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq in the women’s singles badminton match at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena on Sunday (July 28). A former world and Commonwealth Games champion, Sindhu has solidified her position as one of the top women’s singles players in Indian badminton history.
At Paris Games 2024, Sindhu will take center-stage in her third Olympics, having returned with a medal in her previous two outings in Tokyo 2020 (bronze) and Rio 2016 (silver). Sindhu, currently ranked 13th in the badminton world rankings, has been drawn into Group M as the 10th seed. Estonia’s Kristin Kuuba (world No. 73) is the other shutter in the group.
The Indian shuttler triumphed in her only encounter with Fathimath, securing a decisive 21-4, 21-11 victory in the second round of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
