
Pakistan take first stern step after T20 World Cup debacle, sack Wahab Riaz, Abdul Razzaq from selection committee
Former Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has been removed from his position on the selection committee following Pakistan's disappointing exit from the T20 World CupWorld CupWorld Cup 2024 group stage. Pakistan was eliminated from Group A, which also featured debutants USA and Canada. The team suffered defeats to India and USA, prompting PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi to announce plans for a major overhaul of Pakistan's cricketing structure. This overhaul has already begun with the dismissals of Riaz and Abdul Razzaq.
In response to his removal, Wahab Riaz took to X to express his thoughts on the situation, indicating that he had much to say but chose not to engage in a blame game.
“My time serving as a member of the selection committee for PCB comes to an end, I just want my people to know that I have served the game I love with faith and sincerity and have given 100 percent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket,” Wahab Riaz said on 'X'.
