Over 7,270 laptops allotted for distribution to college students in Erode

As part of the first phase of the State government’s free laptop distribution scheme, a total of 7,279 laptops have been allotted to the district.

In a release, Collector S. Kandasamy said the inauguration of the first phase of distribution was held at the Government College of Engineering, Chithode, on Monday (January 5, 2026), during which 832 laptops were distributed.

These included 61 laptops for students of the Government Arts and Science College, Thalavadi; 247 for students of the Government Arts and Science College, Modakurichi; 250 for students of the Government Arts and Science College, Nambiyur; and 274 for students of the Chikkaiah Government Arts and Science College.
