One dead, one injured in tree collapse incidents in Mumbai

A 26-year-old man died while another was injured in rain-related incidents in Mumbai, said the civic body officials from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday (May 27, 2025).

Tejas Naidu, 26, died on Monday at 8 p.m. after a tree collapsed on him near Ganesh Maidan in Kannamwar Nagar, Vikroli. He was rushed to Godrej Hospital but was declared dead, the BMC officials said. According to Dr. Amol Jadhav, Medical Officer, Naidu suffered severe injuries from the tree collapse incident.

Officials from the Horticulture Department said that the tree was being pruned and trimmed ahead of the monsoon, but due to rotting of its roots, it had decayed and fell.
