New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who is also running for mayor, was arrested on Tuesday at an immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza. According to local media, Lander was there to observe hearings and support immigrants facing possible deportation. This was his third visit to the court in a month.

According to video footage, Lander was walking alongside an immigrant whose case had been dismissed earlier that day. As they left the courtroom, federal agents, some wearing masks, stopped them. Both Lander and the immigrant were arrested.

In the video, Lander can be seen telling officers: "I'm not obstructing. I'm standing right here in the hallway. I asked to see the judicial warrant." He added, "You don’t have the authority to arrest US citizens asking for a judicial warrant."
