Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar on Tuesday said that the Election Commission of India (EC) will write to the Cabinet Secretary, informing that no Delhi-specific provision can be made in the Union Budget that can disturb the level playing field.

It made the decision taking into consideration the Union Budget that is scheduled days before the poll. While addressing a press conference to announce the schedule for the election, the CEC dismissed allegations of manipulation in electoral roll, saying no deletion can occur without thorough documentation, field verification, and giving the individual concerned an opportunity to be heard.

“Every step of the electoral roll process is rooted in transparency and accountability. Deletion of names is not possible without adhering to strict protocols, and every party has the right to raise objections at various stages.” Mr. Kumar said.
