Hundreds of members of the Muslim community in Shivamogga took out a protest march in the city on Saturday, opposing the Waqf Amendment Act 2025.

The protesters, holding national flags, began the march from Waqf Bhavan and reached the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Along the march, they raised slogans—Save Waqf and Save Constitution. They assembled in front of the office, where they held a protest meeting. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board had convened the protest.

Addressing the protesters, Shahul Hameed, a religious leader of the community, said that the protest was held to oppose the Centre’s move. The BJP had been making decisions targeting people of one particular religion all these years. “We are all Indians, and we have equal rights as per the Constitution,” he said.
