The Monsoon Session of the Jharkhand Assembly began today amid political heat over the alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations. Before the proceedings started, opposition legislators staged a protest outside the Assembly, raising slogans and displaying banners and posters targeting the Hemant Soren-led government.
The session opened with the Assembly leadership emphasizing the importance of democratic debate, accountability, and public-oriented discussions. The Speaker highlighted that the legislature has three key responsibilities — making laws, reviewing financial matters including the state budget, and ensuring accountability of the executive before the people.
During the session, the government is scheduled to present the First Supplementary Budget for the financial year 2026-27. Four working days have been allocated for Question Hour, providing legislators an opportunity to raise public issues and seek responses from the government. The Assembly also announced arrangements for non-government members' business during the session.
