Man killed in road accident at Perumbakkam

A 22-year-old man, a resident of Santhosapuram, was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on Wednesday (February 5, 2025) morning.

The Tambaram police said the deceased Venkatesan, who got married recently, worked at a cake shop on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Karapakkam. On Wednesday morning, he left for work on his two-wheeler via Medavakkam and Semmozhi Road in Perumbakkam, where metro rail work has been going on, towards Sholinganallur. As he approached the Central Tamil Research Centre in Perumbakkam, a vehicle hit his motorcycle and sped off. Venkatesan, who was thrown off the two-wheeler, suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.

The Pallikaranai Traffic Investigation police, on bring alerted, sent Venkatesan’s body to the Chromepet Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police are examining the CCTV cameras installed in the area to identify the speeding vehicle.
