Kidambi Srikanth advances to main draw of Malaysia Masters
PV Sindhu suffered an early exit from the Malaysia Masters Masters Masters 2025, bowing out in the first round after a hard-fought loss to Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh on Wednesday, May 21. The match, held at the Axiata Arena, lasted one hour and four minutes, with Nguyen prevailing 21-11, 14-21, 21-15.
Despite being ranked 10 places higher at World No. 16, Sindhu struggled to assert control. The Indian shuttler, who was the runner-up in last year’s edition of the BWF Super 500 tournament, has now suffered consecutive defeats to Nguyen.
This marks Sindhu’s fourth first-round exit in her last five tournaments this year, following early exits at the Indonesia Masters, All England Open, and Swiss Open. Her only progress beyond the opening round came at the Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, Zhejiang, where she was eventually defeated by Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi 11-21, 21-16, 16-21.
