Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun claimed on Tuesday that the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have warned him that he was facing a fresh credible threat to his life, The Globe and Mail reported.
Pannun, the general counsel of Sikhs for Justice and a dual US-Canada citizen, claimed that FBI agents visited him on August 20 and advised him not to travel until the threat was resolved. He was also told to inform the agency in case he planned to travel.
However, neither the FBI nor the Royal Canadian Mounted Police gave details about the alleged plot that was uncovered. Neither agency responded to messages from The Globe and Mail seeking comment.
