A new book on the Trump presidency has claimed that US Vice President JD Vance suggested India as a possible contributor to a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine during high-level discussions on ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

According to Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump by journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, the proposal surfaced during an Oval Office meeting in January 2026 attended by President Donald Trump and senior members of his administration.

The book claims that while discussing potential ceasefire arrangements, Vance raised concerns about deploying NATO troops in Ukraine and instead suggested countries outside Europe, including India and Saudi Arabia, for a possible peacekeeping role. Watch the video to find out more what Trump said.
