Jasprit Bumrah among three Indians named in ICC Test Team of Year 2024

After earlier making it to the ODI team, India batter Smriti Mandhana also found a place in the ICC Women’s T20I team of the year on Saturday, January 25. The ICC (International Cricket Council) unveiled the playing XI of the year for the shortest format, featuring players from nine countries. Mandhana was once again picked as the opener of the side, having scored 763 runs from 23 matches in 2024 (21 innings) at an average of 42.38 and a strike rate of 126.53 with eight fifties to her name.

Apart from her, wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh also found a place after having her best-ever year in the format in 2024. Ghosh scored 365 runs from 21 matches (16 innings) at an average of 33.18 with two fifties to her name. All-rounder Deepti Sharma was the third Indian in the team who made it to the XI after a stellar showing in 2024 with both bat and ball.

Sharma was the joint-highest wicket taker of the format in the previous year amongst Test playing nations with 30 scalps to her name from 23 matches at an average of 17.80 with best figures of 3/13. Apart from that, she also scored 115 valuable runs with the bat for the team lower down the order.
