Japan hit by 7.1-magnitude earthquake, tsunami alert issued

Japan earthquake: A strong earthquake has hit Southern Japan's Kyushu Island on Tuesday. According to the reports, Japan earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers below the sea surface.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) recorded earthquake's intensity 7.1 magnitude on richter scale. Soon after the earthquake, weather monitoring department issued a tsunami warning, with waves of up to one meter (3.28 feet) expected.

Officials have advised residents in coastal areas to evacuate and move to higher and safe place.
