Jailed activist Sharjeel Imam to contest Bihar election from Bahadurganj, files interim bail plea

JNU student activist Sharjeel Imam withdrew his interim bail plea from a Karkardooma court to contest Bihar assembly elections. His lawyer argued the Supreme Court is the appropriate forum, as a regular bail plea is pending there. Imam sought bail to run as an independent from Bahadurganj, citing his status as a "political prisoner."
