Ishan Kishan unlikely to feature in Duleep Trophy first-round match

India batter Suryakumar Yadav, wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna have been ruled out of the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024. Notably, the Indian domestic season kicks off with the Duleep Trophy on Thursday, September 5 with two games happening simultaneously at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru and Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur.

However, none of the aforementioned trio will be featuring in the first round of the competition, informed BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Kishan has been ruled out due to a groin injury sustained during the ongoing All-India Buchi Babu Tournament.

Sanju Samson has been announced his replacement in India D squad. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has been also ruled out after suffering a sprain to his right thumb while fielding in the All-India Buchi Babu Tournament. Both Suryakumar and Kishan are being monitored by the BCCI medical staff and further evaluation next week will determine their availability for the second round.
