India on Monday summoned Ukraine's Ambassador to India, Oleksandr Polishchuk, and lodged a strong diplomatic protest over the death of an Indian seafarer during an attack on the merchant vessel MV Omorfi in the Black Sea last week.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it expressed serious concern over the incident and strongly condemned attacks on commercial shipping, saying such actions threaten maritime safety, freedom of navigation and global trade.
According to the MEA, Ambassador Polishchuk was called to the ministry following the attack that claimed the life of an Indian national.
