India is doing proud in the world of chess as another player has won a big title after D Gukesh made India proud this year.

Koneru Humpy won the World Rapid Chess Championship and earned a historic second world title on Sunday. She defeated Indonesia's Irene Sukandar. In 2019, she had won the event for the first time and is the only player besides China’s Ju Wenjun to clinch the titles multiple times in the format.

Humpy’s achievement is another feather in India’s chess cap. Her victory came two weeks after D Gukesh defeated China’s Ding Liren at the FIDE World Chess Championship in Singapore this month. He became the youngest-ever world chess champion at the age of 18. His previous achievements include becoming India’s youngest grandmaster at 12 and India’s no 1 at 17, breaking Vishwanathan Anand’s 37-year title.
