The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kasaragod and Kannur districts, while an orange alert has been issued for Kozhikode and Wayanad, anticipating moderate to heavy rainfall on July 20.

In addition, warnings of strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/hr have been issued across the State. The public has been advised to remain vigilant, as the winds could cause considerable damage, including uprooting of trees or breaking of branches. Electric posts, unstable billboards, and flagpoles may also pose safety hazards.

On July 19, red alerts were in place for all four districts. As a precaution, educational institutions in Kannur, Kasaragod, and Wayanad, as well as in Vadakara taluk of Kozhikode, were given a holiday by the respective district administrations.
