ICC Charges Usman Khawaja For Wearing Black Armband In Perth Test
New Delhi: Usman Khawaja has once again fallen in trouble with cricket’s top governing body. ICC has charged the Australian opener for wearing a black armband during the first Test between Australia and Pakistan at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The hosts won the match by a massive margin of 360 runs. However, there’s no update from ICC on whether Usman will be banned from the second Test or not. Australian batter has received a reprimand from cricket’s governing body.
Khawaja wore a black armband during Australia’s 360-run victory in Perth after ICC denied Khwaja’s request to wear shoes with a message saying ‘All Lives are Equal’.
The 36-year-old had originally lashed out at the ICC for censoring him and had vowed to continue promoting messages of support for civilians in Gaza. Khawaja had handwritten slogans such as “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal” on his footwear.
