Hockey: India script stunning comeback, beat Netherlands 3-2 to enter semifinals of Junior World Cup

New Delhi: The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey team qualified for the semi-finals of FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 in Malaysia after beating the Netherlands 4-3 in a thrilling encounter in the Quarter-finals. The Indian team produced an astonishing performance after trailing 0-2 at halftime and 3-2 in the third quarter.

The match was an absolute nail-biting thriller and both teams brought out their best games but the Asian giants managed to edge the Dutch side. India will now take on Germany in the semi-finals on December 14.

The Netherlands set the ball rolling early in the first quarter with a penalty corner conversion from Timo Boers (5′). Despite the Indian side playing a solid defence, Pepijn van der Heijden (16′) scored for the Netherlands in the second quarter through another penalty corner conversion, taking their lead to 2-0 at halftime.
