A major development has emerged in the Surya murder case in Ghaziabad. The main accused, Asad, was killed in a police encounter after allegedly opening fire on officers during a checking operation in the Indirapuram-Vasundhara area. Police had announced a reward of ₹50,000 for information leading to his arrest and had been searching for him since the murder.
During the encounter, a police constable was injured, while Asad's accomplice managed to escape and remains at large. According to investigators, 17-year-old Surya Pratap Chauhan, a Class 11 student, was invited to Asad's house on Bakrid and was allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute. Police said tensions between the two had existed earlier over a bike-related argument.
Surya succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Fortis Hospital. His family had named five individuals in the case, three of whom were arrested earlier. Police continue to search for the remaining suspect and are investigating all aspects of the crime.
