The first randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the upcoming Assembly election on April 23 was carried out here on Monday (March 23, 2026) in the presence of election officials and representatives of recognised political parties.

The exercise, held at the Collectorate, was conducted under the supervision of the District Election Officer and Collector, S. Kandasamy. EVMs were allocated through the randomisation process to eight Assembly constituencies in the district — Erode East, Erode West, Modakkurichi, Perundurai, Bhavani, Anthiyur, Gobichettipalayam and Bhavanisagar (SC).

A total of 2,852 control units, 2,852 ballot units and 3,089 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines were distributed among the constituencies. Officials said the randomisation process ensures transparency and fairness in the allocation of EVMs.
