Fadnavis meets leaders of NCP factions, fuels fresh buzz about their merger

Speculations are abuzz in Maharashtra after rival NCP and NCP SP leaders met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis late in the night on Wednesday (July 15, 2026) at his official bungalow ‘Varsha’. The meeting lasted for a few minutes.

Top sources claimed that the leaders had come separately as part of two different appointments. “The meeting was not held together with all three of them. While Mr. Jayant Patil came with a letter requesting the CM to look into the expulsion of a civic body member in Ishwarpur, Mr. Patel and Mr. Tatkare came for a different issue,” a senior leader who was a part of the developments, told The Hindu on Wednesday morning (July 15, 2026).

NCP SP leader Jayant Patil told reporters thereafter that he had gone separately for an issue related to his constituency. NCP leaders Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare remained unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.
