A food safety inspection drive in Bengaluru has uncovered a large stock of expired and improperly labelled food products, with items worth Rs 1.38 crore seized from Amazon, Swiggy Instamart and other storage and supply facilities.
Medicines worth another Rs 4.02 lakh were also seized during the inspections, according to the Karnataka Food Safety and Drugs Administration.
The department carried out checks at Amazon facilities in Devanahalli and Anekal, a Swiggy Instamart facility in Hoskote and several other food storage and supply units in and around Bengaluru.
