Veteran scientist and former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, MR Srinivasan, who played a key role in the country’s indigenous nuclear energy programme, died at the age of 95 on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr MR Srinivasan, former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)," the family said in a statement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes to Dr Srinivasan and said that he played an instrumental role in developing the critical nuclear infrastructure of the country.
