Early trade: Rupee hits life-time low, Sensex and Nifty tanks

The Indian rupee plunged to an all-time low, breaching the 86 mark against the US dollar on Monday. The rupee fell 0.4% to hit 86.39 per dollar, in line with the broader weakness in Asian currencies.

The sharp decline came after a stronger-than-expected US jobs report, which further strengthened the dollar and pressured emerging market currencies, including the rupee.

The US nonfarm payrolls data revealed that 256,000 jobs were added last month, far exceeding expectations of 160,000.
