The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), on Thursday (June 4, 2026), conducted surprise inspections at 60 Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) across Tamil Nadu, taking advantage of the heavy public turnout on an auspicious day for property and document registrations.
According to sources, a large number of registration tokens had been issued across the State owing to the favourable date for land and document registrations, resulting in increased footfall at SROs.
As part of an anti-corruption drive, around 320 policemen and policewomen from the DVAC simultaneously entered the selected SROs at about 2.30 p.m. The teams secured the premises and carried out searches to detect unaccounted cash and identify any irregularities in the registration process.
