Devotees throng Sri Parthasarathy Swamy temple for Vaikunta Ekadasi
Thousands of devotees visited the Sri Parthasarathy Swamy temple in Triplicane on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadasi on Friday. Tickets priced ₹500 were sold in advance for the viewing of the Swarga Vaasal event. The temple premises were cleaned a week ago to prepare for the festival. Police personnel were deployed in and around the temple for the event.
A devotee, who did not wish to be named, said many of those who bought tickets for the Swarga Vaasal were not allowed to enter initially, since the police wanted to prevent any stampedes by regulating the crowd. “Many devotees came specially to watch the Swarga Vaasal, but they were disappointed since they were only allowed inside the temple much later,” he said.
