Day after Farooq dare, Srinagar MP Mehdi decides to quit Lok Sabha, NC over Article 370

Mehdi said that he decided to resign from Parliament and the primary membership of the NC due to a deepening rift with his party on “ideological grounds”. Mehdi, who has been consistently speaking against the ruling NC and chief minister Omar Abdullah, blamed the party and the CM for failing to fulfil the promises on which the NC won a landslide victory in the 2024 Assembly polls.

Mehdi, while speaking to the media, said that he will send his resignation to the Lok Sabha Speaker and NC president Farooq Abdullah on November 3, the 26th death anniversary of his father Aga Mehdi, who was killed in an IED blast in 2000.

Mehdi also wrote a letter to the NC president blaming the ruling party for changing its political position on Article 370 and statehood and sought answers from the former CM on Article 370.
