Centre hands over Pahalgam terror attack probe to NIA
The investigation into the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack has officially been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Following the attack, NIA had already initiated a probe by reaching the site shortly after the incident.
However, with the formal handover, NIA now leads the investigation, and all relevant agencies will cooperate in this process.NIA’s involvement is significant as it can link the attack to broader terrorist networks, using evidence gathered from previous incidents. This move will enhance the investigation's scientific and systematic approach.Meanwhile, security has been ramped up in Pahalgam.
Routes leading to the Basaran valley, the site of the attack, are now completely sealed with barbed wire, restricting both locals and media from accessing the area. Additionally, CRPF personnel have been deployed to ensure no hindrances to the investigation. The impact of the attack is also visible on tourism in Pahalgam.
