Students appearing for the CBSE Class 12 Mathematics exam were in for a surprise after scanning a QR code printed on their question paper. Images of the paper doing the rounds on social media suggest that the QR code directed users to a song by Rick Astley. According to posts shared by students on different social media platforms, scanning the code opened the music video of Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley. The Central Board of Secondary Education has now addressed the issue.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued an official statement regarding the incident.

“Several security features are incorporated into the question papers, including QR codes that help verify their authenticity in case of a suspected security breach. On March 9, 2026, the Class 12 Mathematics examination was conducted. In a few sets of the question paper, it appears that scanning one of the QR codes redirected users to a YouTube video,” the CBSE said in a statement.
