BSNL turns profitable after 17 years, posts Rs 262 crore profit in Q3

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the public telecom, on Saturday reported the net profit of Rs 262 crore in the third quarter of the financial year 2024-25. This is the first time in the public telecom’s history since 2007 when it became profitable. The company’s mobility services grew by 15 per cent Year-on-Year, with Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) revenue by 18 per cent.

BSNL was successful in cutting its financial cost and overall expenditure, leading to a decline in losses by over Rs 1800 crore compared to last year. Its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) doubled in the last four years, reaching Rs 2,100 crore in FY24.

Announcing the quarterly financial results, Shri A. Robert J. Ravi, CMD, BSNL, said: “We are pleased with our financial performance this quarter, which reflects our focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and aggressive network expansion. With these efforts, we expect revenue growth to improve further, exceeding 20% by the end of the financial year.
