Breaking: Incoming US Ambassador Sergio Gor Says India Must Stop Buying Russian Oil, Calls India A Key Partner
A major diplomatic statement has emerged as Sergio Gor, the incoming US Ambassador to India, declared that New Delhi must halt its purchase of Russian oil. Speaking firmly on the issue, Gor stated that India, being a key strategic partner of the United States, should align more closely with Washington’s global economic stance.
“Crystal clear on this, they must stop buying Russian oil,” Gor emphasized, underlining the US administration’s growing concerns over India’s continued trade ties with Moscow.Gor, however, balanced his remarks by praising India’s role in the BRICS grouping, noting that New Delhi has often stood by Washington’s side in critical debates.
He pointed out that while nations like China and Brazil have consistently pushed to reduce dependence on the US dollar, India has acted as a “stopgap” by resisting those moves and maintaining closer engagement with the West. The ambassador-designate stressed that India is “much more willing and open to engage” with the US compared to other BRICS members.
