Bhiwandi Collapse: Bhiwandi Building Collapse Kills Two, Several Feared Trapped Under Debris

A major building collapse in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi has claimed at least two lives, while rescue teams continue searching for three to four people feared trapped beneath the debris. The four-storey Kohinoor Apartment, built in 2012, collapsed late at night in the Gangaram Wadi area during ongoing repair work.

According to local residents, the building had developed severe structural cracks and had already been declared unsafe by the municipal corporation, which had issued notices for evacuation and repairs. Witnesses alleged that the contractor removed all three main support pillars simultaneously without providing temporary structural support, causing the building to collapse around 11 p.m.

Residents managed to escape moments before the incident, although some narrowly avoided being trapped. Emergency response teams, including the NDRF and TDRF, are carrying out rescue operations using heavy equipment to clear the rubble. Authorities fear that additional victims may still be trapped under the debris.
