Adobe has named India-born Anil Chakravarthy as its next president and chief executive officer (CEO), succeeding long-time chief Shantanu Narayen, as the software major looks to accelerate its push into artificial intelligence (AI) and agentic software. The appointment adds Chakravarthy to the long list of Indian-origin executives leading global technology companies.
Chakravarthy, currently president of Adobe’s Customer Experience Orchestration business and worldwide field operations, will take over as CEO and join the company’s Board of Directors effective December 1, 2026.
Narayen will transition to the role of executive chair and work closely with Chakravarthy during the leadership transition while supporting Adobe’s ongoing transformation.
