Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu was on Wednesday (January 14, 2026) elected the new president of the opposition BJP in Jharkhand, and asserted that the party would fight to protect "jal, jangal and jamin" (water, forest and land) and rights of tribals.
Mr. Sahu replaced Babulal Marandi, who is the leader of the assembly and a former Chief Minister.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, the party's in-charge for the organisational elections of the state unit, officially announced Mr. Sahu's appointment.
"I received only one nomination for the post of the state president. After scrutiny and permission from the national president, I declare Aditya Sahu as the president of Jharkhand BJP," he said.
