Accused in murder case of Tamil Nadu BSP chief killed in police encounter
In the K Armstrong murder case, K Thiruvengadam, 33, was one of 11 the accused.
In a Sunday "encounter" in Chennai, the police fatally shot a 33-year-old man who was one of the defendants in the murder case of K Armstrong, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)'s Tamil Nadu unit. Authorities in Madhavaram state that K Thiruvengadam, one of the eleven defendants in the case, was brought to a location close to a lake in order to retrieve the weapons used in the politician's murder.
The officials said,“There, he (the accused) tried to attack police personnel with the recovered weapons and flee from the spot. He was injured in retaliatory firing and rushed to a hospital. However, he was declared brought dead."
The defendants were recently given five days of police custody by a court in the capital of Tamil Nadu.
